the song is called "locusts" and the artist is invincible, featuring finale

Detroit-based Hip-Hop artists, Invincible and Finale, rhyme about the impacts of gentrification on the Motor City. This piece includes interviews with community activists discussing displacement and predatory planning versus sustainable development in The D.

[as a paranthesis, perhaps ladyfest is an example of the "alternative" that bfp is talking about there? - although in my opinion the most important critique of ladyfests, as a whole, is precisely that perhaps as a rule even these fests - whose mission is based on the riot grrrl ethic with the aim to provide a feminist- and queer-friendly space, a community, an alternative to the "macho (punk)rock" norm, to support female artists and activists, create networks etc. - aren't reaching, or centering enough, those people who need them the most... but then, like with any "is activism making strides or just preaching to the choir" dilemma, it's complicated...]
