"all he was was funny" - ha!

sherman alexie is one of my favorite writers ever! here's an interview with him in which he talks about his new novel flight and much more (ingrained boyhood violence, what reservations are like today, colonial literature, potlatch culture, his favorite books, ambiguity, meaningless expectations, mortifying himself, mortifying audiences, mortifying vegans, sherman alexie gym wear with anti-"inspirational" messages, fanboydom, writing but also performing, being a writer-as-musician/musician-as-writer). by the way, i've decided i am writing him a letter to let him know - AGAIN - that vegans do not hate him!! (a couple of years back, my sister and i went to a reading of his and because he made a joke about how he'd noticed that the people on some vegan forum were boycotting him because he always takes jabs at vegans, at the book signing afterwards we made a point of telling him we're vegan and we don't mind! so then he signed my book "in vegan peace". which is awesome. [yes, i am a major dork.] but i guess sherman alexie really likes the idea of being boycotted by vegans, for some reson. hehe)
