chapeau, pelecanus et france
here's a hat comparison (unfortunately my sister's too-cool-for-school sunglasses - wait, those are mine aren't they?!?!?!? - get in the way a little bit):
but i do think i came as close as humanly possible (considering it had to be a hat and not a headband, and i didn't want to make the eyes too ridiculously big)
for anyone who likes shows, PELICAN (click to listen to a couple of songs) puts on one of the best ever. really, really. they're also from chicago. they also give an awesome interview (maybe i'll get around to copying some of my favorite parts from guitar player trevor's punk planet interview last december). also, they have one of the best french fan websites around, and it's called pelecanus. :)
anyway, the pelican show was in strasbourg. strasbourg has four vegetarian restaurants. of the 4 one is closed on the weekends, so i walked into the remaining 3 and ate something in 2 of those, all in one afternoon. i feel like that was quite a feat. fyi, strasbourg's veg* food is all italian.
speaking of food... i wonder if anyone's seen the future of food - i'm really interested in checking in out! i'd already noticed the title somewhere on the web... and then recently i saw an add for it in the ak press catalog. apparently there will be a dutch premiere on april 22nd... but from the link given i don't understand where/how. so maybe i should just get the dvd now; but i want to know if it's worth it.
and last but not least, a reminder to all, veg* and non*-veg alike: meatout is march 20th!
ps: due to some recent comments that have appeared on the blog, it should be mentioned that my sister sometimes goes by the nom de plume "gica petrescu". why? because she can, i guess. her other ndp is "piulita georgica". i'm afraid even romanian speakers won't get that one without an explanation (some other time).
