pegas

supposedly i'm not really blogging, but today i feel the need to mention this picture somewhere.

i love it. so much. it's my sister and me on my childhood bike (a "pegas"). the larger photo also includes our mom and one of my best childhood friends and her mom... and it was taken during a walk in the pitesti woods called "trivale", about 250 years ago. it was a strange, melancholy, out-of-time time... anyway i recently rediscovered the photo and love it.

speaking of my sister, one of the "fun" things i'm doing right now is trying to finish knitting this crocodile hat for her (to go with the crocodile mittens that i've already made her), which she's demanded would look exactly as seen at right, so the easiest task ever... (also, about this drawing of the little girl with the awesome hat, which is a yahoo messenger "audible": i guess i'm learning chinese or something... i used this page and figured out that the "audible" phrase in chinese - 酷不酷啊哥哥 - means "dude, isn't this cool?" or thereabouts... yes, i'm a dork, but i can't help but feel accomplished! and yes, my sister and i communicate mostly through messenger these days.)

in other news, here's something from the salon "broadsheet":

In today's "No shit, Sherlock" category is an article from the Chicago Tribune that says women worry more -- and in different ways -- than men.
...As with most scientific studies about the differences between the sexes, this one is linked to evolution and gender roles through the centuries. "Women juggled child care, cooking and protecting the family," Pirec says. "Men in those times had mostly one task: to go hunting and provide food. So their brains developed differently."
Women seem to experience negative emotions such as anxiety more intensely and easily too, which is why they are twice as likely to suffer from generalized anxiety disorder. But it's not as if men are worry-free. They just keep their fears bottled up inside, which often results in physical problems.
- i dunno, i really hate this kind of study as a rule (i never identify with the purportedly "female" traits that they always mention... so i just never see the point). but, still, i thought this was mildy interesting. for no reason (i'm lying).

and finally i highly recommend the graffiti artist. and mos def's the new danger. and mike park's north hangook falling. and the ppk blog. now back to work...
