ps on the foie gras

apparently, there's a new product on the market, called "faux gras" -- not really "faux," just not as bad (it's made from livers of "free-range" birds that were not force-fed). i'm not going to advertise an animal product so no link, but there's an article here. of course, i find the use of phrases like "animal rights-friendly alternative", "without cruelty," and "without guilt" to refer to something that involves the killing of an animal ridiculous, but that's just me. i suppose if you must have your extra-fatty goose and duck liver paste it's better that you choose this one over the traditional kind that involves slaughtering birds for their liver only after they have been purposefully tortured...
