some coverage of this year's allied media conference
(2007 theme: "breaking silence, building movements")

Radical independent media is just one aspect of the AMC agenda in Detroit. [Elijah Barrett-Aviles] discusses the gathering's issues and victories from the front row of the conference: DAY 1 | DAY 2 | DAY 3

oh, yeah, she does. true, true, true, true, true:
So rather than try and create homogenous transnational movements, international solidarity between various self concerned peoples DOING WHAT MATTERS TO THEM can be just as effective.

IE : I don't have to be you or have it worse than you for us to work together. I jsut have to want what I want you want what you want and once we make sure it's not at each others expense we can be in solidarity with out having to follow each others agendas.

No to mention the way we win will affect the way we run things .

and brownfemipower posted this video, which is awesome:

and not amc-related, two things i laughed out loud with:

  • "It’s 10pm. Do you know where your local roving gangs of lesbians are?" @ feministe (there hasn't been anything as excellent on dangerous fictional "gangs" as that fox news piece since the surreal cnn/time magazine documentary on straight edge from a few years ago; leave it to bill o'reilly to accomplish this feat)
    later add:
it's all the more mind-boggling, infuriating and nauseating that that's fox news' "coverage" of this story ("Lesbians sentenced for self-defense..."). see FIERCE!

  • "Ask Nezua: The 'Wetback Mexican Butts' Edition!" @ The Unapologetic Mexican [where manifest destiny goes to die] (muahahahaha.ha.ha. "...So—when Sandra Cisneros tells her lover 'you bring out The Mexican in me,' only other Mexican@s understand what she really means. And now you! She is saying that her lover has done something to evoke this inner aspect of Mexicanness and now, all bets are off, hombre! Hide the cat!"... or "...'Gophehhhhh-ro.' See? Easy. NOTE: If you are addressing the gopher directly, it is only polite to use a proper title, such as 'Señor,' or 'Señora.' PS: Gophers are never called 'Doña!' Don't trip up on this rule! It will make for a very ugly gathering of small, furry animals." ... i died laughing; he's so great. and he's apparently got romanian ancestry - COOL!)
