cool! Thanks!

I love P&P too - right now I'm reading a book called Darcy's Story. It's Pride and Prejudice told from the perspective of Darcy. I'm of mixed opinion on it just now, but not because I am not enjoying it. I'll blog about it when I'm finished, and tell more then.

Did you also like the version with Keira Knightley? I kinda liked it... but the BBC miniseries was really the best!

hehe, well, as many here can attest my obsession with adaptations of p&p is only slightly less serious than that with jane eyre (which means A LOT!). :) anyway i'm of the opinion that nothing can ever equal p&p95. so yes, i have seen last year's movie, and i find it tolerable; and by "tolerable" i mean that i own and watch it repeatedly, too (here i wrote about something from the dvd)! hehe... but i think of that adaptation as melodramatic, emily bronte-style p&p. which isn't quite p&p, you know? i partly like the movie because of matthew macfadyen, who is an amazing actor (have you seen "in my father's den"?). and that's in fact perplexing because i was actually quite annoyed at how he approached the role: he refused to read the book, let alone see any other adaptations, so as not to be influenced in any way (huh?). and he's also said he thought of darcy as misunderstood and shy. which i think is wrong - the whole point of darcy is that he's annoyingly haughty and misguided in some of his actions and conclusions. but, at any rate, whatever it is that matthew macfadyen did end up doing with the role, somehow he made it work, right?

as to p&p "fanfiction" (if that's what it's called), i've read my fair share. all of them were really really bad, except for a pretty funny one which supposedly contains the lost sex scenes from jane austen's books, including p&p. :) oh, i think i read one that was darcy's diary or something... god, did it suck (even though i barely remember it, i think i may have blocked it out)! but i haven't read the one you mention, and i'm curious! can't wait to hear your review!

ps: i forgot to list one tv show: "viata satului" (old-school version on pre-'89 romanian tv), for the sole reason that whenever i think "combine" (which currently i do a lot) i envision the opening sequence of that show and it is GLORIOUS! [if you're not romanian and you don't get this joke, don't worry.] :P
