random,varied and slightly christian
l'organizing, it is tough. i just had a loooong conversation that was supposed to help get some stuff done for the romanian vegetarian society, but instead ended up going into these random and barely relevant tangents, succeeding mostly in proving to me how little i know about christianity, let alone orthodoxy... i guess my atheist (non-)education really worked. or not worked (as planned). whatever. point is, maybe that discussion didn't help with the advancement of the veg*an cause any, but i did find out that the dove is indeed a biblical symbol not just a peace one, it may or may not stand in for the holy spirit and may or may not be occult, and it may or may not have something to do with the hammer and sickle as well (gah). further, i learned about baptism and the christian creed, and all i can say is: how convenient that i was a baby when i was made into an orthodox! because i know if i'd been given a choice and it involved me saying that, i don't think i could've brought myself to do it. however, things being as they are i still remain an agonstico-heretico-orthodox (much to marius' horror). :D
and speaking of jesus, :D i'd originally posted the following with some sarcastic commentary from me, but since apparently it's a total parody, i'll let it be sarcastic on its own. i give you the lyrics for the first song of my christian orthodox rock band, coming soon:Hot for Jesus
...JUST 4 KIDZ! The "z" is for "zealousness," 'cause Jesus wants us to be hot for Him, not lukewarm. I read in the Bible that He said: "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent"... Let's do that![via feministe...]
on a more serious note, some great posts to read:
- "standing on a corner, thanks to oakland yellow cab" by janna
- "being trans, being poor" by brownfemipower @ women of color blog and additional "nitty gritty" commentary from piny @ feministe
and then on an altogether different note:

one of the signs above is particularly worrying to me :o) uhmmm and to give you a hint which one it would be the one that has the word 'freaks' in it and my first initial :o)

I noticed it too. :)
well, great pics Rux, I guess that Marius haven`t read your post yet, couse it`s hard for me to believe that he read it and didn`t say that "all the witches should be killed" :D, you being an agonstico-heretico-orthodox one.
hehe, i was sure you'd get a kick out of that sign. i know i did! the place that window belonged to was v. run down and abandoned, by the way. i have no idea...
anyway here's marius' comment to my original post which i later edited to clarify that the "hot for jesus" site was a parody (i think he won't mind that i'm copying it):

Yeah, Jesus loves lambs, but Christians don't. Isn't that odd?
"If you find an Atheist in your neighborhood,
TELL A PARENT OR PASTOR RIGHT AWAY!
You may be moved to try and witness to these poor lost souls yourself, however
AVOID TALKING TO THEM!"
=))
More, if you scroll to the bottom of the page you'll see this "Pat's Age-Defying Protein Pancakes". No fucking way! It must be that direct link with God that Pat Roberson knows is all.

siempre contra, why kill the witches?! we can exploit them for our benefit? ;-)
Do you know that God is an anarchist Himself? or at least He was at some stage in the Old Testament... He was against an earthly ruler for the Jewish people, but since they insisted to have one just like the other peoples, God made a concession and accepted..
ps: i like the excavator
me too!! i was so excited about it... and i used it, it was awesome.
um, god just wants to be the SUPREME ruler. that's not anarchist - except in the case of some anarchists, that is. :D wait, i mean Anarchists.
oh, yeah? prove it.
Prove me that I am wrong :P
1. you're the one who's making a definite assertion. you're the one who has to prove it. this is why i'm (part) agnostic. :D
2. i know for sure i'm not smarter than this guy; that's pretty much what i do all day long for research. QED
