I'm glad to see there is a Pizza Hut in Bucharest. As an American I now feel safe to travel abroad and eat crappy fast food.
Leave it to me to find your photos of fields most interesting. Most of the plants you see along roadsides and as weeds around town in the US are from Europe, but I was amazed to see just how much those pastures in Romania look like pastures and wastelands in the US... or rather the US looks like Romania. From that photo on the hillside I recognize wild carrot, chicory, canadian thistle, crown vetch, yarrow and birdfoot treefoil, all commony weeds in the midwest US! Yikes! Its really sad to me to see how much of the landscape in the US has been imported... though I'm sure they're quite lovely to have around in Romania, I can't help but hold a grudge against these plants.
yes, i'm beside myself with gladness, too! and there's all possible kinds of crappy fast food, not just pizza hut - however, most of them are "fancy restaurants" there. creepy.
as for the plants: you might hate them, but in romania they're nice and NATIVE. or i assume they're native. who knows, maybe "canadian thistle" was brought over by canadian tourists. or, by the canadians who built reactors in cernavoda! (i do believe i'm on to something here.) actually, in all seriousness now i'm extremely curious what those plants are called in romanian. i wish i had your crazy botany and forestry knowledge. but of all those weeds, i just know chicory :( (is it really officially a "weed"? we used to make faux coffee out of it during communist times :D )
